With a compression ratio of 9.1:1, this gasoline engine cranked out a powerful 245hp at 4,000 rpm. Boasting a cast iron block and head to go with a nodular cast iron crankshaft, this liquid cooled engine used cast aluminum alloy pistons.

The last of the Dodge 250 engine sizes was the Cummins 5.9L Turbo Diesel, one of the highest-rated engines in its class. Known as the Cummins 5.9 6BT, it was an inline six-cylinder power plant with direct fuel injection. Cummins engines were known to produce one liter of displacement per cylinder, and this one was no different.

The 6BT Cummins 5.9-liter engine had a 102.2mm (4.02”) bore with a 119.9mm (4.72”) stroke. With two valves per cylinder, the compression ratio was 17.5:1 and the result was a strong 215hp at 2,500 rpm. Maximum torque on this Cummins Turbo Diesel was 440lb-ft at 1600 rpm.

This water-cooled engine was built with cast iron block and head for a dry weight of 1,100 pounds. The turbocharger was built by Holsett Engineering.
